Who do I contact?
David Stapleton has volunteered to head up this activity. He has all of the equipment necessary, including the yellow flashing roof top lights and door panel signs. David will not only head this up, but he will actually do some patrol. However, he needs help and volunteers for this. If you would like to help David, please contact him at (405) 974-5440. You can schedule patrol duties with David at your convenience.
Effective Deterrent
Cheyenne Ridge has had little if any criminal activity, except for a few auto break-ins and empty house vandalism. A neighborhood patrol is an extremely effective deterrent for any new bothersome activities. It is especially effective to restrain teenagers, or others, from doing things all of us would rather they not do at night in our neighborhood, i.e., possible loud parties, late night swimming pool parties, boom box disturbances, auto break-ins or disturbances in our yards. The patrol can also possibly help out with loose dogs and other animal problems, reporting them to Edmond Animal Control.
Patrol Duties
The patrol person's duty is to drive the neighborhood in the evenings and/or on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights for whatever period of time you desire. You will place the flashing yellow light on top of your car and the signs to the doors of your vehicle.
The Edmond Police Department does not allow neighborhood patrols to have weapons, and requires there be no confrontations with any suspicious people or activity. In the event any of this activity is encountered, the patrol person is to call 911 and report it.
